Essentials for safe kayaking

Wave Train Kayak Team does not supply equipment. Equipment is available for rental at discounted rates from Northern Lights Trading Company.

All participants need the following equipment to participate in Wave Train programs:

1. PFD -- Type III Coast Guard Approved

2. Helmet -- Must provide good protection across the forehead and fit securely on head

3. Spray Skirt

4. Paddle 

5. Kayak with Floatbags

6. Booties -- Must enable participants to walk on sharp or slippery rocks while fitting comfortably into kayak 

7. Dry Top

8. Wetsuit or neoprene pants

9. Fleece or wool shirt

10. Gear Bag

11. Nose Plugs (recommended)

12. Waterproof Ear Plugs (recommended)

Additional Equipment Requirements for Wave Train 6-week Program Participants

1. Throw Rope (50'-70' Poly or Spectra)

2. Whistle
